1. Ultraman

The original Ultraman (Shodai Ultraman), often referred to by Indonesian tokufans as “Ultraman Mbah,” was initially designed as a bird-like monster named Bemular. However, this concept was completely changed because it did not reflect the image of a superhero. The name Bemular was later used for a kaiju in the 1966 Ultraman series.

2. Ultraseven

The original design of Ultraseven’s head was that of a futuristic alien. His body also went through several changes. At first, it was plain silver, then it was changed to blue and silver, and later to red and silver—though the color pattern was reversed compared to the final design we see today.

3. Ultraman Jack

For Ultraman Jack, the initial design was actually realized. His face, body, and color scheme were very similar to the original Ultraman (Shodai Ultraman), with the only difference being the presence of double lines or outlines surrounding each pattern on his body. However, it was eventually completely redesigned to give him a more distinct identity.

4. Ultraman Leo

In its initial design, Ultraman Leo looked similar to Alien Valky, but it was eventually completely redesigned. Ultraman Leo’s body originally had silver ornaments, especially on the abdomen and legs. However, in the final design, his body became plain, dominated by red, and features his signature emblem on the abdomen.

5. Ultraman Dyna

It turns out that Ultraman Dyna was originally planned to have a final form, whose power would be a fusion of Flash Type, Miracle Type, and Strong Type. Unfortunately, this form has never been realized to this day.

Still in Ultraman Dyna, there was an unrealized form in which Dyna would use the power of Hanejiro. The design was quite cute, as Ultraman Dyna had a tail, feathers, wings, and large ears.

6. Ultraman Nexus

If the Dunamist of Ultraman Nexus had been a woman, there would have been a special form. However, this concept was never realized due to episode cuts in the Ultraman Nexus series.

7. Ultraman Noa

The Noa Aegis is the set of wings possessed by Ultraman Noa. In the original concept, these wings could expand, making Ultraman Noa appear like an angel. However, this concept has not been realized to this day.

8. Ultraman Max

The original design of Ultraman Max’s head somewhat resembled Gridman’s head from the anime SSSS.GRIDMAN, while his ear parts were similar to Guyferd. Ultraman Max was also initially planned to have a form in which he would gain armor from Mecha and Kaiju. Although this concept did not appear in the Ultraman Max series, it was later realized in the Ultraman X series.

9. Ultraman Mebius

The initial design of Ultraman Mebius was quite unique, as his Color Timer was planned to be located on the Mebius Brace (his transformation device on the left arm). However, this concept was never realized, even though it would have been quite interesting if it had been used.

10. Ultraman New Generation Gaia

It turns out that a design for a New Generation Ultraman Gaia had already been created. However, since no one was willing to work on a New Gen Gaia series, the design concept was ultimately repurposed as a new form for Ultraman Gaia.
