Nero is the only member of CP9 who can use only four techniques (Yonshiki) of the Six Powers (Rokushiki), instead of all six. He lacks the skills Tekkai (Iron Body) for defense and Shigan (Finger Pistol) for offense. This shortcoming causes him to be looked down upon by his fellow CP9 members.

Since he cannot pierce opponents with his fingers like other CP9 members (Shigan), Nero is forced to use two pistols for long-range combat. This is a rare “deviation” (or a sign of weakness) in a group of assassins known for using their bodies as weapons.

Fact 3: The Only One Without a Childhood Illustration
In the SBS (Q&A corner) of Volume 44, author Oda drew childhood versions of all CP9 members—except for Nero. He was also not measured by Fukurou for his Douriki (power level). This suggests that, both in the author’s view and within the main story, Nero is truly nothing more than a minor, expendable character.
